Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving spending time with both of our families.  We celebrated Thanksgiving day in Arlington at my parent’s house and the day after Thanksgiving in Fort Worth with Cole’s family at PawPaw’s house.

PawPaw wanted to take Lee to ride the train at the mall.  What other 92 year old do you know that will ride the train with their great-grandson?!  G-Mom and Duke joined in for the ride too – everyone had fun!

When your two year old asks you to ride the train and you are 35 weeks pregnant, you squeeze yourself into the tiny train because how can you say no to that sweet request?

We are at the stage where we can’t pass by a carousel without riding it.  Cole is always a great daddy and rides it with Lee!

We went to the Parade of Lights in downtown Fort Worth.  It was so much fun and Lee loved it.  His favorite thing to see were all of the marching bands.  He also loved seeing Santa of course.  It was a great kick off to the Christmas season!

Fall 2013

We had such a fun fall and stayed very busy.  We knew that life would be slowing down soon and so we ended up cramming a lot of fun activities into this time.

Lee got to experience his first Aggie game at Kyle Field this last football season.  Cole took him to one game and then we both took him to another game.  He absolutely loved it and would have gone to every single game if we would have taken him.  He would ask every Saturday if we were going to the Aggie game.  His favorite part was lining up before the game and giving the players high fives.  He likes to name all of the Aggie players and has started looking through his Aggie magazines to learn their names.  His love for Aggie football must really be in his blood!  His favorite player is Johnny, obviously!

Lee requested to be Woody for Halloween this year.  He had never seen the movie, but he loves his Woody doll and his Toy Story book.  He also has a love for cowboys of course!

Baby #2

In mid-April (I think it was April 22), Cole and I found out we were expecting baby #2 – due January 2!  We were so excited and couldn’t wait to become a family of four.  We waited until we were out of the first trimester to say much to Lee about it.  He is very talkative and we didn’t want him announcing it to the world quite yet.  We told our families around 10 weeks and this is how we did it:

bigbro

Lee was excited to find out he was going to be a big brother, although, I know it was all very confusing to him at first.  When we very first asked him if he knew what was in mommy’s tummy, he replied “ducks”.  We got some good laughs out of that!  Also, when we would ask him if he was having a baby brother or baby sister he always said baby sister.  It made me think we might be having a girl (like he had some kind of insight – ha!)  Also, I felt very different with this pregnancy than with Lee.  At our 20 week appointment, in Mid-August, we found out that we were going to be blessed with another little boy.  We were so excited that Lee was going to have a best buddy and we knew that God had picked out this sweet little boy for us to raise – what a wonderful gift!

We came home after our appointment and told Lee he was going to have a little brother.  We gave him a cupcake with blue icing and showed him the sonogram pictures and videos.  Then, we had him facetime our parents to tell them the news.  He then proceeded to tell them he was having a “baby sister”….we had to quickly interject and tell them it was actually a baby brother!  We ended up having to work with Lee for a while to help him understand that we were having another little boy.  So funny!

Family Vacation

In June we went on a little vacation to San Antonio and stayed at the JW Marriott.  We had a blast and made so many great memories on this trip.  It was so nice for the three of us to just get away and be together.

The Sesame Street characters and Elmo show at Sea World were a huge hit with Lee!

Here is the aftermath of a day at Sea World.  Lee was too excited to take a nap that day so he powered through all day and passed out on the bathroom floor while I was getting his bath ready that night.  I still made him take a bath which he was not very happy about!

We were in San Antonio on Lee’s actual 2nd birthday so we had a little celebration for him in our hotel room with cupcakes and presents.  He was very excited about turning 2!

JW poolsmores

The JW Marriott is a fabulous resort.  We made smores one night after dinner.  Lee also spent a lot of time in the pools, lazy river and going down the water slides.  We can’t wait to go back again!
